In order to live up to the growing international competition in the field of mechanical and plant engineering, companies have to modernise their production processes. It is thus essential for the companies to cut costs for quality control, to reduce production times and to keep stock to a minimum. Effectiveness of product development, production and sales (time-to-market) are decisive factors for being able to compete on an international market.
Weaknesses and flaws of production processes can efficiently detected with quality control measures which enables a reduction of production times. Therefore, the development of intelligent non-destructive testing methods especially process-integrated techniques are of major importance. Once the entire production process is documented, already existing models can be used for adjustments, to minimise flaws in the production and downtimes. In this way, production processes can be efficiently detected and production quality be increased.

Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing (IZFP) different non-destructive solutions have been developed and realised in collaboration with industrial partners. These projects comprise the design and assembly of systems that have been fully integrated into the respective production processes.
